The geostrategic and geopolitical issues of the Mediterranean Basin are branching and complex at the same time, as the geographical location of this region gives it great importance as it is a crossroads separating three continents (Europe, Asia, Africa) and different civilizational regions (the Catholic and Orthodox Christian world, and the Arab and Islamic world(.
Therefore, the Mediterranean space was and is still a subject of attraction and competition between different powers / axes, each of which seeks to make the Mediterranean a trump card in its security and economic bets. If the Atlantic – European axis may be classified within the traditional axes of influence in the Mediterranean, then there are recently formed axes or are under formation to find a foot in the Mediterranean space.
